Listening to: Nothing
I've just come back from speaking at Knightlife, the youth group I used to go to during secondary school and sixth-form. It was a slightly odd experience going along not as a Knightlifer, but as the speaker! Eek! Not a great deal has changed: the games are still violent, the girls more violent than the boys. I'd been invited to speak on worship, which is a fairly broad subject! We looked together at the theme of God's presence as it runs through Scirpture, we thought about how having the Holy Spirit indwelling us as Christians means that we are always in God's presence, and that our lives are to be completely offered to God as worship. It was a real privilege to be back in the room where I learned so much, this time at the front myself. Please pray that the Lord would use my very human and flawed efforts to teach His Word, and that the guys and girls at Knightlife would offer up themselves as living sacrifices to the one who has been so merciful to them.
Today at work, I got some news: I'm allowed to tell you about my new job! This is the big news I promised a few posts back. For a few weeks things have been progressing and evolving, but I am now permitted to announce publicly that on July 2nd, I will begin working for UCCF. I will be working on the communications team as I am now, but will also be heading-up a new online theology resource under the direction of Mike Reeves, UCCF's Theology Advisor. I can't tell you how excited and pleased I am about this post and the fantastic opportunity it represents. Continuing with Pod and the comms team, and working with Mike will be both a great deal of fun, and a chance to learn more about much that I've been learning this year- marketing, PR, writing, theology, editing, and the gospel.
For those of you in any doubt, I'd like to say that I love UCCF very much and am proud to be associated with it. I love that UCCF loves Jesus, the gospel, the cross, and the church. I love that UCCF people are (exclusively, as far as I know) humble, enthusiastic, genuine and committed. I love that UCCF cares about theology and sees how right thinking leads to right actions. I love how UCCF has contirbuted so enormously to my own personal growth and ministry through CU and Relay. Mostly, I love how God is using the students, staff and supporters of CUs around the country to bring the good news of Jesus to students who must hear about him. Being a part of this vital and strategic work is a responsibility and an honour. Please pray for me, and praise God for his kindness.
