Listening to: Nothing
Television star Todd Bentley in his own words,I said, like, 'God I prayed for like a hundred crippled people and not one...' and He said 'That's because I want you to grab the crippled lady's legs and bang them up and down on the platform like a baseball bat,'
Now in the spirit of Galatians 5v12, I would like to kick Todd Bentley in the face and see if it is the power of God that makes him fall over. But let's think about this:
I walked up and grabbed her legs and I started going 'Be healed! Be healed!' I started banging them up and down on the platform- she got healed. I am thinking, why is the power of God not moving? and he said 'It's because you haven’t kicked that women in the face,' and there was like this older lady worshiping right in front of the platform and the Holy Spirit spoke to me, and the gift of faith came on me, He said, 'Kick her in the face... with your biker boot,' I inched closer and I went like this BAM! And as my boot made contact with her nose she fell under the power of God.
And I saw him [a man] and the gift of faith came on me, and I said 'What do I do God?' And God told me to just run him down. So I jumped up in the air and I went BAM! and I hit him to the ground, jumped on to him and got into a full mount! Ground and pound! I jumped on him and I was in a full mount and something came over me and instead of punching him I grabbed him by the neck and started choking him, and I said 'Come out of him devil! Come out of him devil!'
And I was in another meeting one time and I called out this Chinese gentlemen and all of a sudden I went running down the isle and I hit this guy so hard it drove him back several feet. He hit the ground and his tooth popped right out of his mouth.
The pastor was lying on the floor and I was standing up on the platform and I said 'God I want revival,' and he said these words to me 'Leg drop the pastor,’ I said 'What?' and he said 'Leg-drop the pastor,'
'Something came over me'- what?
leg dropping pastors?- sounds like someone forgot to read 1 Tim 5v17.
Kicking elderly ladies in the face- that's usually called assault.
On top of this, Bentley announced on stage that on 8th June (two days ago), Jesus himself promised he was going to visit the Lakeland Revival in person. He was due to arrive in a fiery chariot, surrounded by angels- but (surprise!) nobody was going to see him.
Well good news everyone! The second coming happened two days ago in Lakeland, and nobody spotted it. And nobody knew the day or the hour except the Father- and his good friend Todd Bentley.

Suitably tested methinks. Sadly.
See the pride he takes in this here:

And note the reaction of the crowd! Enjoyment? Nervous laughter? Fear that they're next?
Makes Mark Driscoll's occasional indiscretions in the pulpit look sophisticated and polite. At least people call him on it, and he takes the rebukes.
very interesting...
take a look at this, one of my brothers wrote/posted an article on this. what think you? he seems to know (of) bentley personally...

Thanks, Jacky.
I think my question has to be this. When you have to make all sorts of caveats about how 'odd' Bentley is, how dangerous parts of his message are, and why we shouldn't embrace it all- why are we failing to question whether it REALLY is a genunie work of the Holy Spirit?
The problem is we see healings, apparent conversions, supernatural stuff, and feel that we must allow the benefit of the doubt. My understanding of the Bible is that whatever the miracles and crazy stuff someone can do, they are never supposed to be the test for genuine or false teaching.
My conclusion has to be that because of the vast amount of false teaching, violence, showmanship, and (I would argue) blasphemy that's going on, Todd Bently and Lakeland is certainly not from the Lord- and the fact that supernatural things are happening is no proof of anything; in fact it's totally irrelevant.
Hindu gods drink milk off spoons in India, Zen monks can walk on walls, and Pharaoh's magicians copied Moses' miracles. Todd Bentley heals people by assaulting them. It's all the same deception and it's taking too many Christians in.
We have a woman in our congregation whose daughter has just returned from Lakeland bringing with her three words from the Lord: commission, perseverance, sacrifice. She says she's felt them very strongly and everything she's read in the bible 'confirms' them. Is that a good thing? Sure. Should Todd Bentley get the credit? Nope! God's people plunder Egyptians all the time.
Now she's come back and she wants to exercise what she feels to be a newly acquired gift of healing and she feels a burden for praying over one of our members who has cystic fibrosis. Now what do you say to that? Do I believe in healing? Absolutely. Do I want this guy healed? You bet. Should we be praying with him and for him with fervency and faith. Yes. Should we consider the Lord more likely to heal because someone's been at Lakeland?? Should our 'faith' in healing be increased because of someone's connection to a man who is, at the very least, 'puffed up' and lost connection with the Head (Col 2:18-19)???
